Some supply fees are required. 7505* Family Health Needs - 1/2 Credit Family Health Needs is designed to prepare students for a healthy, independent lifestyle, based on a wellness program of physical and mental health. 7510 Apparel - 1/2 Credit This course focuses on individual fashion decisions, the apparel industry and related careers. Topics include managing the apparel dollar, apparel repair and alteration, recognizing quality clothing construction, wardrobe planning and clothing care, and maintenance. Supply fees may be required. 7515 Textiles and Apparel Design - 1/2 Credit This technical laboratory course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills in the design of textiles apparel, as well as costing, producing and marketing. Supply fees may be required. 7520* Nutrition and Food Science - 1/2 Credit This laboratory course addresses nutrition, food choices and food management. Instruction includes food habits and wellness, menu planning, food costs and budgeting, consumer buying strategies, food safety and sanitation, and careers relating to the food industry. 7525 Food Science and Technology (Advanced Foods) - 1/2 Credit This laboratory course addresses food science principles, special dietary needs, nutrition and wellness, die related disorders, food safety and sanitation, world food supply, and careers related to nutrition, food science and technology. 7530 Housing - 1/2 Credit This technical course covers information relating to the management of family housing needs. Housing choices, technology applications, legal and financial decision, home safety maintenance, and construction features including environmental issues are studied. 7535 Interior Design - 1/2 Credit This laboratory course covers the concepts and skills to successfully decorate a home and/or business while addressing period styles, surface treatments, lighting, use of design, space planning, consideration of occupant needs, and management principles. Some supply fees may be required. 7540 Individual and Family Life - 1/2 Credit This course provides opportunities for self-analysis and personal growth. The course addresses the responsibilities of living as an independent adult and gives assistance in planning for relationships and marriage. 7545 Preparation and Parenting - 1/2 Credit This course focuses on parenthood education including the responsibilities involved in parenting, parenting behavior, and child development. 7550* Child Development - 1/2 Credit This course focused on knowledge and skills related to the development, care, guidance, and protection of children. Emphasis is on the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of the child, selecting day care and teaching children with special needs. Students may earn three college credit hours. 7555 Parenting Education For School Age Parents I - 1/2 - 1 Credit This course is designed for students who are pregnant or are current parents. Concepts and skills related to operation and management techniques, food preparation, technology applications, and career options are taught. 7580 Food Production, Management and Services II - 2 Credits This course provides an in-depth occupational training relating to career opportunities in the food service industry. Instruction in management functions, employment requirements, practices and procedures will be included in the course. 7585 Home Economics Career Preparation Cooperative Education I - 3 Credits Training is provided in related occupational areas of childcare, home furnishings, floral design, food service, and fashion merchandising. Class work emphasizes communications skills, business management, and job seeking skills. Students are required to be employed a minimum of 15 hours per week.
