Dramatic Interpretation
Dramatic Interpretation
(DI) is a ten minute long memorized performance. Competitors select
a "piece" from a published work and present it in front
of judges.
Humorous Interpretation
This event is
similar to DI with one notable exception: it's funny! Often in rounds
of Humorous Interpretation (HI) contestants must act out many different
characters.
Duet Acting, Duo Interp
In this event,
also called (DA), a team consisting of two people act out a twelve
minute long piece while using only two chairs as props. The team is
allowed to creatively "block" their performance however
they see fit.
Prose Interpretation
Prose Interpretation
(PR) is a seven minute long performance where the contestant reads
the selected piece from a binder and relies mainly on voice inflections
to provide the needed emphasis.
Poetry
In Poetry Interpretation
(PO) a contestant has seven minutes to recite poetry and interpret
it. The contestant, like in prose, must use a small binder to aid
them, while presenting to the judges.
