Dress Code for Students
L.I.S.D. Student Dress Policy

The following statements are presented for parents and students who feel a need for a point reference in regard to student dress:

  1. All students must be clean and neatly groomed.
  2. Student's hair, by nature of the style, shall not tend to create a distraction and be a natural hair color.
  3. Students may not wear facial jewelry or facial decorations (other than normal make-up), nor any tongue piercing or any other body parts.
  4. Male students may wear either one small stud or one small loop earring in one ear or both ears.
  5. Clothing, which in the opinion of the professional staff would be deemed inappropriate or offensive for school in general, shall not be allowed; i.e.: among, but not limited to: split sides, see-through clothing, halters, midriffs, pajamas, fishnet tops, tank tops, bike shorts, or pants not worn at the natural waistline. All tops must cover the mid-section of the body.
  6. Male students may wear long pants of appropriate length or shorts of appropriate length.
  7. Female students may wear skirts of appropriate length, long pants, or shorts of appropriate length.
  8. Appropriate undergarments shall be worn by all students.
  9. Students may not wear clothing that advertises by name or symbol any products that are not permitted in schools, including, but not limited to:
    drugs profanity gangs
    alcohol obscenities sex
    tobacco suggestive slogans  
  10. A school uniform is an appropriate and approved form of dress for special occasions.
  11. No hats, sweatbands, or bandanas shall be worn in the school building either by male or female students.
  12. Due to health codes, students are required to wear shoes.

The administration reserves the right to determine any inappropriate dress that it feels is disruptive to the school environment.

L.H.S. Discipline for violation of dress code. A dress code file box is kept of students. The first time the violation is corrected and a warning is given. The second time PASS is given for the rest of the day.
