Philosophy of Lewisville High School

The faculty and staff of Lewisville High School share with parents and the community at-large a solemn commitment to provide quality education for our students. We recognize the importance of education equity for all students, and welcome the challenges that result from dealing with a more diverse student population as we seek to continue to produce individuals who are academically competent, well informed and productive members of society.

We believe that we must constantly re-evaluate and fine-tune educational programs, policies and procedures so that we may meet the changing needs and best interests of our students. We are committed to the value of bilingualism and the importance of a global perspective as a preparation for not only future careers, but also as for life in an ever more interdependent world. We also believe that, by offering a curriculum oriented toward raising the expectations of all students, we build in students a sense of responsibility to offer a challenging academic format to all students at every level of instruction, while at the same time providing, as needed, the necessary placement evaluation and follow-up assistance so as to continue to motivate them. We strive to encourage students not only to reach minimum competencies, but also to motivate them to rise to their highest potential.

In addition to the core academic curriculum, we believe students should be offered a broad range of activities through academic and special interest clubs, service organizations, performing and visual arts, student government and athletics; which will provide the students with opportunities to grow mentally, physically, socially and emotionally. Most importantly, we believe in the worth and dignity of each individual.

We expect parents will be active partners with the school in the education of their children. We also believe that they should look upon the school as theirs and feel free to make inquiries at any time concerning their child's progress or the general welfare of the school. We believe that the faculty of Lewisville High School should be recognized for their efforts with young people, and for their professionalism both within the school setting and in the community.

Finally, the top priority on our campus is academic achievement and, we believe that every student "can and will learn."
