Protection of Student Rights
No Student will be required to participate without parental consent in any survey, analysis, or evaluation-funded in whole or in part by the U.S. Department of Education-That concerns:
- Political Affiliations.
- Mental and psychological problems potentially embarrassing to the student or family.
- Sexual behavior and attitudes.
- Illegal, antisocial, self-incriminating, and demeaning behavior.
- Criticism of other individuals with whom the student or the student's family has a close family relationship.
- Relationships privileged under law, such as relationships with lawyers, physicians and ministers.
- Income, except when the information will be used to determine the student's eligibility to participate in a special program to receive financial assistance under such a program.
Parents shall be able to inspect any teaching materials used in connection with such surveys, analysis or evaluation.
