Purpose:

We Are Here To Aid In The Prevention And Treatment Of Sports Related Injuries.

Student Athletic Trainers spent 18 weeks in Sports Medicine 1 and another 18 weeks in Sports Medicine 2. We work in the training room to learn the human body and its response to athletic activity. First aid, injury treatment, taping and wrapping injuires, and rehabilitation are some of the things that the class learns. Also human anatomy such as name of bones, ligaments, muscles and joints. Other interesting things are Nutrition and the effects of drugs on the body.

After the classes are taken the students get to be in the Training Room and put their new knowledge to use on the injured athletes. All Student Athletic trainers have 2 practices a week and a game. We all have an assigned day in which to come in early at 7:45 and help with morning treatments. If the SAT is absent or can not make it to a practice, morning treatment, or a game, that person must call another SAT to cover the event. The SAT will then have to make up with she/he missed. These will be decided as Coach Casey sees fit.

All SAT's (with the exception of a few) will all be assiting with Football in the Fall. In the spring the SAT's will be separated in to their individual sports which may vary.
